Pearson-Kelly Raises $3k for Harmony House

On Saturday, October 16, Pearson-Kelly Technology hosted a fundraiser benefiting Harmony House, raising $2,960.55.

In partnership with Guaranty Bank, the two companies hosted a BBQ cook-off competition between Guaranty Bank’s CIO, Nick Lofaro, and Pearson-Kelly Technology’s solutions specialist, Charles Johnston. The two men were each given 40lbs of pork to prepare and serve, with the winner being chosen by attendee donations.

The winner of the 2021 BBQ Cook-Off Competition was NICK LOFARO of Guaranty Bank!

What You Missed

In addition to the BBQ Cook-Off Competition between Pearson-Kelly Technology and Guaranty Bank, there were also four other ways for attendees to donate to Harmony House:

  • $5 donation for a chance to take three swings at a copier with a sledgehammer or bat
  • $2.50 for a Hurts donut
  • 50/50 raffle tickets
  • Donation boxes throughout the event

Pearson-Kelly’s own Brock Gladwell and his band, The Blinkers, also provided live music. Not to mention pumpkin painting, inflatables, and copier painting!

How You Can Help Harmony House

Harmony House is a domestic violence shelter working to abolish domestic violence in our community. But they can’t do it alone. You can get involved by donating your time, money and talents to helping survivors now and creating awareness for victims still living in domestic violence situations.

Donate Your Time.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Harmony House. They help maintain the building, work in the administrative office, provide meal preparation and serving, or work with donations in the boutique. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, orientations are held on the third Monday of every month from 6pm to 7pm. Click here to register for the next Harmony House volunteer orientation.

Donate Your Money.

Greene County has one of the highest rates of domestic violence in the state. Harmony House’s 168-bed shelter is full every night of the year. Monetary donations help ensure they can keep the lights on and continue serving victims and survivors of domestic violence. They also have a list of urgently needed items on their website that can be dropped off or shipped to their shelter to help maintain the building and provide a safe and calm environment for the survivors in their care. Check out that list here and send them something from their Amazon Wish List.

Donate Your Talents.

Are you an event planner or business looking for a chance to give back to your community? Host an event like we did! Harmony House has a list of ideas to get you started, including a “Casual Dress” day at the office, trivia, or a customer appreciation event. How about a chef? Harmony House always needs meal donations to feed its 100+ residents. No matter what your talent is, Harmony House has a volunteer opportunity so you can be involved.

Making our community a better place doesn’t happen overnight. It takes us all working together. Whether you start big or small, all that matters is you take one step toward helping victims and survivors in our community.
